Friendly isn't a word I'd use
Unless you're an super-elite rider looking to spend literally tens of thousands of dollars tricking out your featherweight carbon tri-bike, the dudes in Racer Sportif act like they're doing you a favour talking to you. Prepare to be invisible, common folks.
Racer Sportif - did NOT fit me for a bike correctly.
Racer Sportif did NOT fit me for a bike correctly. I purchased the SCOTT CR1 Team version from Racer Sportif, with the promise the bike would be ‘fitted’ to me. The Racer Sportif team measured me incorrectly.
The bike was too big, I had to buy proper parts to make the bike fit.
I am female, have a small shoulder width and weigh 110lbs. The 43cm handle bars on my bike were miles to wide, but they told me the handle bars on my bike were the standard, “it’s hard to find smaller handle bars and we don’t have any in the shop”, he then went on to try and sell me a pair 40cm carbon fiber bars that “would improve my experience”.
I went to La Bicicletta on Castlefield Road (Toronto), they spent 40 minutes taking proper measurements and advising me on the proper components. I went back a second time to set the heights with the new components. What a difference!! I actual felt comfortable on my new bike! I had to spend some more money on parts so my SCOTT bike fit correctly. (compact handle bars, shorter stem, women's saddle)
This week I completed a 100km ride and my Scott bike felt very comfortable.
Thanks La Bicicletta !
Two thumbs up! Hip hip hurray!
I have nothing but positive things to say about Racer Sportif. I have been an avid spinner for years and wanted to take my indoor stills outdoors. Last year I purchased my first road bike from the Racer Sportif crew, and let me tell you.... I am NOT and elite rider, nor do I have deep pockets. I found the team to be extremely helpful. It was about 10 years since I last rode a bike, knowing this they took the time to educate me on the sport and get me comfortable in the saddle. They didn't try to up-sell me on any products and really stayed within my budget and skill set.
I've walked into other cycle shops and walk away because the sales team went out of their way to intimidate me and pushed unnecessary expensive equipment on me. Not the case at Racer Sportif at all.
The team made sure I walked away a happy cyclist. The paid attention to every detail I needed to know. Since it was my first time buying a bike they went through all the nitty gritty and even offered to have me join the woman's cycle group to get a hang on the bike. They even introduced me to an amazing cycle campaign called Share the Road. They are a main sponsor of the organization which promotes bike safety. They encouraged me to participate in "Greg's Ride" a ride to raise awareness for bike/road safety. It was my most satisfying ride to date.
I've been proudly cycling for a year now and continue to take my business to the crew over at Racer Sportif. Whether it be a small repair or a new purchase, i'm always greeted with a friendly conversation to see how my progress is coming along. You can't ask for much more.
