Bike to the Polls!
Today is election day in Ontario. Whether by foot or by bike, I hope we have many cyclists showing up to voice the interests of the pedal powered public.
Since the parties are only barely discussing cycling issues, we can keep in mind the issues that have an indirect impact on cycling in Ontario. More people in public transit has many of the benefits of more people riding bikes: less pollution, safer streets, more pedestrians, and more people supporting progress that doesn't include road widening. Another issue to consider is better development laws affecting the way new neighbourhoods are developed. All the asphalt and concrete we put in place now has a long term impact on how we get around. And, of course we have MMP to consider. If MMP goes through, this will give an official voice to the thousands of people who are voting against the big parties.
What's bringing you to the polls today?

I'll probably just walk over to my poll, since it's so close and the bike parking sucks anyway (I found it very odd that the last Railpath meeting had no bike parking on site!).
It's looking likely that the Liberals will win with a majority. But no matter what the outcome is, it will be important to keep the pressure on Queen's Park.
I'll be walking too, just because of how close it is. I passed so many polling stations on my way to work. It would be hard to imagine a long line-up with this many places to vote.

Sorry, I ain't biking across the street. :-)
But then I was jogging by another poll station tonight, and I saw tons of cars parked there that were clearly voters' cars because lots of people were parking as well as leaving the parking area, and elementary school parking lots are normally not too busy at 8 p.m. It would have been nicer if those were bikes instead.
I like the sound of MMP 'cause I'm pretty sick of the big parties. There are two - three if you count NDP - and both three of them suck.
I took my Bent right into the church ,, everyone loved it,,,, =8^) (Steeker)
