Memorial Tree & Google Map For Toronto's Fallen Cyclists
As many of you know, I have been involved in organizing & attending memorials for cyclists killed in traffic in the GTA for many years. For a long time though, I always felt that something more permanent should be done to honour their memory.
Last summer, my partner Wendy Lucas offered to plant a tree in their memory along Lake Ontario. I thought it was a very touching idea. We decided to dedicate the tree to all cyclists killed in traffic in Toronto and across Canada.
The tree was planted together with a commemorative plaque earlier this summer just west of the Sunnyside pool on the north side of the Martin Goodman Trail.

Nice
A nice gesture. Hope to god the city doesn't touch it, but I doubt they'd realize they didn't plant it.
I think that we should name every safe bike lane (without parking) after a killed cyclist, but I think we'd have an oversupply of names to lanes.
Danke
Martin, Eine sehr nette Erinnerung. Vielen dank euch beiden. Meine Tochter und ich werden morgen fruh dort hin radeln um den Baum zu sehen, und eine Sonnenblume hinterlassen.
