Ticketing bikes for being badass

Leanne Eisen, Toronto artist, was given a bicycle ticket. But not for what you think: someone gave a citation for having a "badass" and "unique" Dutch bike (given to her by her Oma). I'm willing to believe that the Urban Repair Squad has something to do with this.

Torontoist:

When photographic artist Leanne Eisen left the Scotiabank Theatre on Monday following a screening of Ponyo, she was surprised to find this piece of blue paper wrapped around the handlebars of her vintage bicycle. At first, she only saw the words, "Your bicycle has been ticketed because…"

Instead of an official citation issued for some sort of parking infraction, however, what she found on the ticket were charming compliments from an anonymous flâneur, who declared the chassis "badass" and "unique."

Original idea as well i like the psychological effect of getting pissed you get a ticket turning into joy of someone noticing your bike and acknowledging your ride.

I don't think I will get one of those, my bike isn't "chic" enough.

I feel so forlorn, time to ride into oncoming traffic to end my agony of being unfashionable.

**** I want to get a ticket like that! Whoever is doing it is very cool in my books.

Hey Pat,

You don't need a 'chic' bike to get one of these tickets. I love all bikes, especially ones that are loved by their riders. Flowers easily double your chances though :)

I commented with a bit of an explanation on Torontoist. I hope people smile when they find a ticket.

As far as I know, it's neither URS nor a certain French Postman nor anyone else I know. I think we some cool new bike nerds in town, sassy ones. Several people have shown me examples of these and asked. Wish I knew.

I want to see more of them!

and i must add, my bike is far from chic!

I think it was the flowers (which it's been wearing for a good decade or more). Nice to see good karma getting spread around :) ****
