Canadian Tire Ad kind of Offensive.
Hey this will be quick, but we need to look into this and let Canadian Tire know we are not pleased...
The ad is about driving while using cell phones, and how the cops are cracking down on it (yeah right) and how one can lose their license if caught talking on one. This is so they can advertise their BlueTooth handsfree items.. the thing that got my goat is the announcer then says: We have skateboards, bikes and scooters in case you lose your license... but those of you who just gotta drive..." I really didn't like the ad alluding to the idea those of us who CHOSE to ride, skate or even scoot are doing so due to losing our right to drive. GRRRRRRR. *Also, it is well known the drivers attention is still distracted with or without hands free devices. ( Just stay off the phone. It can wait. It's not so bloody important, you need to risk lives.)
Anyone else feel it was a low blow and want it off the air. Heard it on Jazz FM.
I just feel the ad is really Lame, and just one fine example of the subtle nature of devaluing cyclists and others trying to make a difference.

Whatever, i bet you ride a bicycle... of course you're angry! I'd be angry too if i had to pedal around everywhere like a plebeian with nothing important todo!
btw, canadian tire only sells bicycle accessories for your car.(the ones for the trunk and hood)

Just wish they'd stop killing us while we wait.
I also heard that ad on Jazz FM, but only after they said the word 'bike'. Typical of me.
I was offended too, because I thought they were reinforcing that sterotype that only poor drunk losers ride bikes to get around, instead of choosing a more positive message about bikes (like efficiency or fitness).
I didn't hear the part about bluetooth. Now I see why they tied riding a bike to losing your license. Still a bit offensive, but it probably helps raise awareness about staying off the phone while driving. Balances out?
I don't find anything wrong in this ad. It also depends on how you see it.
Thank You
Daniel
You must understand that some people do like the exercise of a bike and don't want to rely on the internal combustion engine. And your wrong again Canadian Tire sells a whole aray of bikes and gear so maybe they should be more possitive to their cycling customers.
