de-greening a commonwealth games bid

" London has set aside 11.5 million pounds to encourage people to ride bikes or walk to the events of the 2012 Olympics."

.. ummm .. and Toronto is WHAT?

spreading the venues so far as to guarantee the future viability of the big 3 (automakers)?

Centennial Park needs a velodrome!

After all, there are target shooting events in the Commonwealth Games (including pistol events) and there's already a bylaw preventing the opening of new shooting ranges in the city (none of the existing ranges are big enough, or fancy enough for such an event).

The Toronto bid is so outrageously doomed that I don't even know why our politicians waste time (and municipal resources) even pretending that we have a shot at the games. I'd be much happier if they accepted the effort as doomed and put the money into actually finishing up the route development from the bike plan.
