Dufferin Bike Lane!

Look what I found here:

"I was at the corner of Dufferin and Steeles the other day and noticed on the North side of Steeles, that they have installed a bus and a bike lane on Dufferin, not sure how far up it goes, but a quick look at the Vaughan bike plan shows it will eventually go, in one form or anther to the King line. This could become a new preferred route out of the city. Too bad Vaughan and Toronto don't talk, it wouldn't be hard to extend that bike lane down to say Supertest, which would make it much more useful. to Toronto riders as a way North."

I beg to differ with the Wogster. Dufferin NEEDS continuous bike lanes right to Martin Goodman. That bicycle infrastructure was once again ignored in the planning for the BRT is typical Caronto motorcentricity. Where was TCAC's chair on this one? What of its former chair and now TTC chair? Why are bicyclists and pedestrians still being crowded out?

The bike lane goes to hwy 407. But since York Region has not cleared it of snow and ice, it may as well not exist. The lane to the left of it is bus, carpool and taxi only, so you will see me taking the lane in the next lane over.

Yes, it would make sense for it to go at least to the the end of the subway line at Dufferin and Sheppard. But that Toronto area bike lanes do. Start and end in the middle of nowhere in places that nobody wants to go to and unusable in winter due to failure to clear the ice and snow. Sort of like the Rail Trail, but that's another issue.
