News from BC, and their perceptions of bike lanes

I like reading news about cycling. I like to see what's happening to see if there's anything I can learn and bring back to Toronto's cyclists. BC is said to have a good cycling culture, better than Ontario (not that it's that hard).

Unlike Toronto's seeming "all talk, no action" Bike Plan, some other places are making real progress:
City becoming more bike friendly Abbotsford News (April 22, 2009)
More bike lanes coming Abbotsford News (June 08, 2009)

I also like to read the human interest stories:
Cycle commuter reaps bike benefits Chilliwack Progress (May 11, 2009)

And I also like seeing how people respond to the news through editorials and letters to the editor.

Some people don't think that the change is good enough:
Promontory bike lanes unsafe CHILLIWACK PROGRESS (July 17, 2009)

Some like it as is:
Thanks for bike lanes Abbotsford News (April 24, 2009)

Others simply object, or don't understand why the change:
Bikes lanes a waste Abbotsford News (August 04, 2009)

The discussion and debate part of this sounds familiar to Toronto; It's just the progress part that's still foreign...
I guess that the most inspiring part is that OTHER places can do, and have done it. So it is possible. I just wish I knew how to make it happen faster here. A few meagre km/year, mostly on quiet residential roads, is not enough.
