Who is Rob F. Ford

His Worship, Mayor Rob Ford, recently revealed his true middle name. He was ambushed by a comedian from the CBC and hoped to get himself extricated by calling 911. Here's quoted from today's Star:
http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1076717--ford-swore-at...

When police didn’t arrive right away he called 911 again, according to police sources cited by the CBC.

CBC reports that Ford then turned on the dispatcher, yelling: “You … bitches! Don’t you f---ing know? I’m Rob f---ing Ford, the mayor of this city!

Congratulations, Toronto!

Eeeehhhh, way to go Tommy boy! Thats my boy. Oink oink oink!

Lets get back to work screwing over some bicycle pinkos and poor people now!

I think someone should swap his 4-wheels for bicycles. The worst that could happen would be his weight would go down and his tolerance for bikes would go up. He'll be thanking us 100lbs later.

I'd buy him a racing bike if he didn't refuse to use it on the grounds that he will look ridiculous on it with his weight. He might like it if he could feel the effortless speed.

I'd buy him a racing bike if he didn't refuse to use it on the grounds that he will look like a fat f---ing a-- on it. He might like it.

You'll notice I commented twice, the second one was actually my impulsiveness that I was trying to hold back.

The second comment one the first post, which I took one look at and opened another tab, when I got back to it, I pressed something by accident.

I don't think swearing and getting anyone mad is going to help anyone's cause. I'm sorry.

I genuinely would donate even though I don't have a lot of money, enough to get rob ford to really understand what a good bike is like and what we have to live through everyday.

If it would only cost me a one time fee of hundreds, into the 1000, I would do it so that people like Jenna Morrison or any lover of mines doesn't have to suffer anymore. One of the girls that had a crush on me was a city biker. I worry about her even though I don't have any contact with her. Please excuse my swearing and hopefully remove that post.

Is Rob Ford a bad mayor because he's fat?

No, it's because he has nothing but terrible, misinformed, ideologically-driven ideas and he's too inept to implement any of them. He's too dumb and too useless to be our mayor

He has more than enough legitimate shortcomings to criticize; sniping about his weight is counter-productive, illiberal, and mean. Is that really the face you want to put forward for arguments against Rob Ford? We all know from experience that it doesn't play well.

A has-been comedian ambushed Ford at his home then CBC news is caught lying about Ford's 911 call. They are a big fat national disgrace on this story.

Ford has his faults but i dont think cycling in TO is any worse than it was under Miller. There is just more noise and fury from people who dont like Ford and probably dont even vote. These folks should try voting. It is more effective than whining on blogs, tweeting for a revolt and "liking" anti Ford facebook pages.

I don't know about the CBC lying in this matter. Its source claimed the F-word and a bitch comment was uttered. Ford accepted the first accusation but denied the second. So far part of the story is confirmed.

The second comment could be clarified if the recorded conversion were released, but it wasn't. The police chief who listened to the tape backs up the mayor. Now, Ford is the chief's boss. Would you go out and prove your boss has misspoken - especially when you current budget negotiations depend on your relationship with The Man? I think the chief just covered Ford's rear end.
As far as I am concerned the "Bitch" comment is at best unproven but it smells bad enough to make be believe the CBC probably has got it right.

I agree with you that Ford as mayor is not Ford's fault. It's the voters that could have been smarter because Ford has not changed since being elected - I recall him appearing in the cycling committee, flitting in late and soon out again, not interested in being part of Heaps, transportation staff and committee members discussion and resolution. Ford's tendency to lie was proven in the Florida incident (and there are others, just visit his Wikipedia entry;

In 1999, Ford was arrested in Miami for driving under the influence (DUI) and marijuana possession charges.[67] According to the statement recorded by the arresting officer, Ford was acting nervous, had blood shot eyes and had "a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath". Ford threw his hands up in the air and told the police officer, "Go ahead, take me to jail."[68] Until he was questioned by reporters,[69] Ford said that the marijuana charge had "completely, totally slipped my mind" because the more serious issue during that arrest was the DUI charge.[70] Ford initially denied the DUI charge, claiming instead he was arrested because he "refused to give a breath sample".[71]

I just hope Toronto voters are smart enough next time around to vote him and his supporters out of office.

The latest on this story:

The ombudsman, Kirk LaPointe, found that the CBC did not violate its journalistic standards in its reporting on Ford’s calls — though he also says he isn’t sure that its reports, which relied on anonymous sources, were correct.

“On one hand, CBC News is a major media organization with a reputation for high-quality investigative and precision journalism as part of its public mission,” LaPointe wrote in a report released Friday. “On the other hand, the chief of police is a major public figure expected to perform impeccable service. In this matter only one of them is right. It just isn’t clear whom.”

Blair, LaPointe argued, was not an impartial observer.

“In view of the fact that the Toronto Police Service depends on budget deliberations headed by the mayor, and in view of the fact this year’s police budget that averted layoffs was reached only in the week before this incident, I concluded the CBC could not rest on Blair’s account. Not only were its sources adamant about their information, the chief was not a disinterested party,” he wrote.

LaPointe wrote that he could not conclude whether the CBC’s reporting was accurate.

“The public interest would be best served with proof, but if it is not forthcoming with definitive records, there can be no ultimate finding in this standoff about the accuracy of the report. There can only be a finding about the fairness of the reporting process under CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices,” he wrote.

It was obvious but now it's official.

The ombudsman could not conclude if the CBC was accurate. He also failed to note he is an interested party to this issue and like the police chief he is incapable or rendering an impartial opinion about the taxpayer subsidized entity that pays his salary.

The CBC and Star should agree to publish details of their sources leaking supposedly confidential information if the mayor releases the 911 tape. I doubt that will ever happen so nothing is certain other than the 911 call was made. All this report confirms is that the CBC reported an unsubstantiated rumour.

Old news regurgitated.

All this report confirms is that the CBC reported an unsubstantiated rumour.

That summary would be awfully kind towards Ford's case.
Just in case you had not read the article completely:

LaPointe is employed by the CBC but independent of the news division. He wrote that the CBC’s reporting, including its use of anonymous sources, satisfied its policies on good journalism.

And you are ignoring that Ford acknowledged the use of the F-word and thus confirmed half the story.

God bless Rob Ford. The best thing to ever happen to this City. And for all you cyclists out there, I'll remind you he will be the first Mayor to install dedicated lanes.

No thanks to Rob Ford. Rob Ford actually still voted against his own "Mayor's bike plan". What kind of leader does that?

We may get improved bike infrastructure, but mostly because of some clever politics, not because the mayor is in anyway driven to improve it.
