Toronto Girls' Cupcake Ride

I'd love to organize a Cucpake Ride in Toronto for fixed gear and single speed riders.

I'm thinking we could start at a bakery in the West end, ride across town to another bakery and eat more cupcakes!

Anyone want to join me?

Shoot! I should have posted this earlier, but we are having an inaugural ride this Saturday, April 3.

Wanna join me?

Toronto Girls' Cupcake Ride

So "anybody" can join in so long as they fit the pre-condition of being female with a fixie?

It only dawned on me there is a bakery next door which promotes its "cupcake of the month" after you brought that up. For some reason the idea of women on bikes touring bakeries seems oddly appealing. Likewise to "she who must be obeyed" if she can sneak into the group on her geared bike.

sorry seymore... it is a segregated ride.

i want to promote/encourage more girls to ride in the city and thought this would be a fun way to do it! ... didn't want to hurt any feeling in the process though!

i think i'll have to nix the fixie/single speed part, though. there just doesn't seem to be too many in toronto ... yet. or i'm just not reaching the fixie/single speed girls effectively.

so seymore, why not organize a non-segragated cupcake ride? or maybe you want to create a boys only cupcake ride?

no sarcasm here. i think any fun meet up to get people on their bikes would be awesome!!

ladies, we are having our inaugural ride tomorrow: click here for more info ****

geoffrey, where's this bakery next door to you?

i'd love to make that a destination for a future cupcake ride!!

the boys ride should be called

Fixed gear, 10-speed, 2 wheel, 3 wheel - all girls on wheels welcome!!

It looks like there will be rain tomorrow, so I've postponed the ride to the following Saturday: May 29th.

I've changed the ride route so that we can participate in Bells on Bloor as well!!

Congrats to happyd for getting in the Star with the cupcake ride!

May you work off the sweets that you take on during the ride.

Hello HappyD - thanks for doing what you're doing, and hope you had a great Bells on Bloor ride, and it was nice to get the sideways mention of the Bloor ride in the Star article too.
And speaking of segregation, I think women tend to prefer bike lanes vs. riding in traffic and guys are a bit more adept at being with cars, even performing a useful function of kinda traffic calming... though clearly we all have issues now if we take the lane.
