Bike wheel tacoed by TTC bus. Policy?
Well, I I locked my bike to a waste bin close to a TTC stop. The rear wheel was flush with the curb line, and a bus scraping the curb scraped my bike wheel into a pretzel.
Does anyone know if I have a chance of recouping anything? I've filed a report, to be a statistic at least.

A friend of mine often jokes that if a TTC bus hit a pole, they'd be suing the pole.. Sorry to discourage, but I bet it'll be hard to get them to admit anything, let alone even listen to you. Best of luck, though! :p
you'll probably just give up.
Almost all ttc bus have video cameras on the front which would have recorded your bicycle being crushed, ask the ttc, get a lawyer to write it up a request and then ask the ttc, then the police, then proceed to small claims court.
By now you'll have given up, that is how the TTC wins because legal resources aren't available in this country to people who aren't well off.
That, plus the TTC is very corrupt. People think Toronto police are corrupt, hah.

I wouldn't expect too much.
As long the bus was on the street at the time it hit your bike, it would appear that your bike was not properly secured.
It sucks, but to suggest that the TTC was in the wrong is a bit of a stretch.
First step would be to find out if it's technically legal to lock to any sort of signage pole. Cursory googling didn't turn up anything for me. If it's fully legal though, I'd say that's your evidence right there that you were perfectly deserving of compensation.
I recall a few years ago locking to a pole one day and a man asking me if it was legal. Apparently in his city (I forget which, but it was in Alberta) it's completely illegal.
Followup: Denied. Perhaps coincidentally, the city removed the waste bins last week.
Just move on, if it's just a cheap wheel rim, take it to a shop and have them lace a new rim for you(there is a wheel-building course on in Toronto soon, maybe do it yourself) and get on with your life.
Present the bill to the ttc, photographs, if you really want... start a small-claims case. It sounds like they'll be un-cooperative and not even bother to check the video recording from their bus unless you really force them to.
