Thank you and money to cyclist

It's not every day that someone gets a thank you note and money, particularly if you're a cyclist (and not a car owner who just got $60 from Rob Ford).

Tom Polarbear retells his story on Toronto Cranks:

I was riding along the College Street bike lane heading east and was coming up to the red light at University Ave. and an older woman stepped out to the edge of the sidewalk and handed me an envelope saying “Thank You for cycling today”! I thought it might be a flyer or something so I stuck it into my pocket and started through the now green light. On the other side of the intersection another cyclist passed me and turned to say ” how much do you think is inside” as he waved his envelope, I said I don’t know maybe its a coffee coupon.

Hi there,

Thank you for riding bikes! Cool story!

I am trying to get people to donate their City of Toronto Vehicle Tax rebates to an Environmental Organization, and then to write letters to their city councillor and the Mayor to let them know what they did. I chose to donate mine to Toronto Environmental Alliance. I also started a Facebook Group with a link to a letter that folks can use to tell the mayor and councillor about what they did (you can find it by searching facebook for "Redirect Your Vehicle tax Rebate to the Environment")

Nadia.

Nice idea Nadia. Spurn the teabag-cracy by donating to TEA. There's poetic symmetry there.
