Bicycle moving companies?
Hey does anyone know of any bicycle moving companies in the North America? I've heard of the one in Montreal but was wondering if there were any others here or in the States. Thanks!

May i ask what you are trying to do? Is the bike going one way or will this be a return at some later date?
Portland has had bicycle moving parades - for more information you can go to:

You can courier them yourself as well. There are specialized heavy duty cardboard crates for the job. You need to add the extra cushioning yourself though (every bike is different).
I think she's asking whether there are any companies that provide a bike-based moving service. As in you're moving to an apartment across town and would rather avoid using motorized transportation to drag the sofa 20 blocks. I could be wrong.
Unfortunately I have no wisdom to offer about whether such companies exist. Sounds like a great idea, but not sure how feasible they would be as far as pedalpower and time required..
Bicycle moving? I think that is one service we can leave to the internal combustion engine, thanks. No more legally indentured servants to pay a pittance to in Canada, and few draught animals. Even if you want to be 'holier than thou' I think you'll find that the movement of heavy household goods requires a higher carbon footprint if you pay for human power than if you pay for oil products, in this case. Moving house by the internal combustion engine is factors more efficient than moving an individual in an automobile that weighs far more.
People do move by bicycle. You have to be pretty dedicated, but anything is possible.

And it isn
t always about efficiency or actual carbon footprint. I remember last earth day being handed cookies by a well-meaning lady who was so proud of herself that she had cooked them over a fire . Because its better for the environment. I didnt have the heart to tell her that a fire is way dirtier energy than her stove. It was about the principle of being electricity -free after all.
