Bike post for Home

in

My neighbor just recently forbade us from locking our bikes to the small fence between our houses. They say we are scratching their fence (or other bs). It's technically on their side, so I have no recourse.

I am thinking about installing some kind of ring posts along the walkway. It's a narrow walkway, about 3 feet or so across, so the idea would be to put maybe 3 or so post&rings, running along where the fence is.

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Do you know where I can get a rack? I think I may have to use concrete screws instead of making a hole and filling it up with concrete. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam

I remember hearing you can just request a post and ring from the city outside your house. Does anyone know if they'll put it on private property?

Yes, they will. A friend of mine has one in his front yard.

do you know if they will put them in private property along an alleyway?

Rent a hammer drill from Home Depot, with a concrete / masonry bit.
Get the rental guy to show you concrete anchors and threaded eye bolts which will accept a padlock, cable, or ideally, a Ubolt lock.

Drill out holes in your wall at about the same height as your fork tops, hammer the concrete anchors in, thread the eye bolts into the anchors, tighten firmly with a screwdriver thru the eye bolt hole, and lock away. Way easier than installing post and ring lock ups.

The real truth about locking systems is any resourceful thief who means business will make easy work of your system with a grinder, bolt cutter, or hacksaw. So, installing a motion detector floodlight would also discourage tampering and theft.

Best solution of all is to take the bikes inside your residence. Mine live right next to the coat rack in the front hall.
