Requires a

(Assignment – up to 1 year)

Must have successfully completed a 3 year Community College program in Transportation Engineering Technology.
A C.E.T designation is preferred or the successful candidate must be in the process of obtaining it.
A minimum of 3-5 years of practical experience in cycling facility design and operations.
Must demonstrate strong knowledge of traffic engineering practices, the City’s Traffic By-law, the Highway Traffic Act, the Ontario Traffic Manual and other standards and design guidelines as they relate to cycling.
Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with various internal departments, external agencies and the public.
Excellent attention to detail as well as proven organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrated experience in project implementation and monitoring.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and sound file management skills is essential. Experience with CAD software (i.e. Microstation) is an asset.
Must have a valid Class “G” driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to City standards.
A genuine interest and enthusiasm for cycling is a strong asset.

Under the direction of the Manager of the Cycling Office, the successful candidate will:
Undertake, promote and monitor specific projects contributing to the implementation of the Cycling Master Plan, as assigned.
Perform background research; analyze and prepare summaries of data.
Conduct site inspections of cycling network and related facilities.
Review and comment on related studies and plans.
Provide technical support in all aspects of cycling facility design and operations, including interpreting cycling facility design standards and guidelines and preparing functional design drawings of proposed cycling facilities.
Provide input into the preparation of correspondence and reports to Committee, Council, Councillors and the public, including assisting with preparation and follow-up from public meetings.
Work with a variety of government agencies, City departments, contractors, vendors and consultants concerning cycling initiatives.
Represent the Cycling Office in internal as well as external meetings, as appropriate.
Provide input into determining priorities for the Cycling Office workplan, projects, programs and budget, as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

SALARY: $61,820 - $82,428
