Watch out on the Don and lakeshore paths
There's been flooding on the Don River path, so there are lots of sandy patches. The worst is when you head southbound after the big hill south of Pottery Road. It's all sandy at the bottom, so watch your speed! There are many other sandy sections. Some are fairly packed, while others are loose. I slowed down; skidding out on the path because of a bit of sand or gravel is, at the minimum, embarrasing. (I once tacoed a wheel on the Taylor Creek path after zipping past a slower rider, going into a skid, and tumbling to the ground. "Are you okay??" said slower cycle. "Yes" I muttered, trying to untaco my wheel enough to get home.)
On the lakeshore path, in Coronation Park (just east of Ontario Place), there are signs redirecting cyclists to the south branch that runs along the waterfront. But a lot of this was being actively dug up -- it's one big construction site.
I wonder if the detour is due the the Indy. There's also a "detour" tape across the main path just west of Ontario Place, even though there's nothing to detour.
And the bizarre four-way stop at the junction of the Ontario Place access road and the new "blue" trail remains in place. If this is all Indy stuff, someone had forgotten to remove it!

Hi Ed,
Instead of complaining to the general public on this forum, why don't you call 311 Toronto and voice your concerns to the City of Toronto? 311 will actually be able to do something about it!
Respectfully,
Brian
Hi Ed,
Please do give us a call (or email 311@toronto.ca) and we can make service requests for these City-related issues. When making a service request 311 will also give you a ref# which you can use for follow-up and tracking (you can track by calling or on our website).
Thanks,
And thank you Brian for passing the tip along.

The 3 way stop signs have been removed as of this morning, and the white tape pulled up.
The temporary fencing was still there at 10am.
The concrete barriers that prevented cars from getting on this path from Lakeshore are still missing, so I saw two cars using this area this morning. Not sure why the barriers were not put back if the stop signs are gone... could get ugly.
Rode through this morning. The "Pedestrians and Cyclists detour" sign that's just west of the Naval driveway is still there, directing westbound trail users left onto the under-construction path that's blocked by a portable metal barrier at the other end.
Along Lake Shore, I saw some workers removing what appeared to be left-over Indy stuff. How long does it take to clean this sort of thing up, anyway?
