Moderation Policy

The editors at I Bike T.O. reserve the right to moderate the posts and comments on this site. We currently allow anonymous and registered users to post forum topics and comments throughout the site. In order to keep this relatively open we need to keep some oversight of the type of discussions that take place. If you have questions about our moderation you can always get hold of us by email.

On Topic
This site is about cycling, mostly about cycling in Toronto. We will remove posts that are not on topic, though we are fairly flexible on this if we find the information useful or interesting to us.

Disemvowelling
Sometimes we have posts that are trolling and rude. In these cases we may take action by either removing the insults or "disemvowelling" the offending text. This means that all the vowels are taken out which allows the post to remain but makes it hard to read. (You can try out a disemvowelling tool too.)

Offensive or Harrassing
There are times when we'll just delete the post or comment. This includes posts or comments that threaten violence, or that are offensive or harrassing to particular groups that fall under the Ontario Human Rights Code. We won't accept harassment against women, queer, people of colour, transgendered, children, etc.

Advertising and Spam
We will delete all spam. We will also remove posts or comments that only exist to advertise a service, product, or website. The moderators will determine whether someone is genuinely contributing or just advertising. If you want to advertise your service, product, or website on I Bike T.O. please talk to us directly and don't fill our comments or posts with links to your site.
