Hot Rod Trikin'

Vic's New Trike
Last night I picked up a used adult tricycle (aka "granny trike") that I found on Craigslist. Yeah, it's not as stylin' as the folding bike crew, but damn this thing is fun to ride!

It's a bit odd riding a bike</strike trike that has three wheels and doesn't lean when cornering. Gotta watch out when riding fast and turning! But it's fun messing around on this thing, taking it up on two wheels, zig-zagging around, and pretending I'm a hyperactive old lady.

I'll probably take this on some grocery-fetching trips instead of my trailer soon. And heck, I think it would be fun to take this on leisurely rides all over the city.

It's too bad though...I actually bought this trike for my mom. I think I'll have a hard time giving it up. She lives in Hamilton, so maybe I can take a nice Saturday and deliver it myself! It's certainly tempting. Who wants to come on a 70km tricycle ride with me?

Keep It!

I bought my wife a nice Raleigh trike a few years ago only to discover my wife was not nervous about balance, as she had always professed, but scared to death of traffic and could not, would not ride the trike. So, here I was with this 'old lady' shopping trike and wondering what to do with it.

I 'cooled' it up. I removed the huge seat, narrow handle bars and front forks and replaced them with a cruiser seat I had from another bike, wide cruiser bars and all chrome springer fork. Ihad the bike upgraded to 15-speed, added a front basket and spray painted both baskets black. I actually had some kids tell me the bike was 'the bomb.' Who knew?

It has always been fun to ride and I love it, but it is sadly for sale once again ($700.00 including all original parts & custom parts) as I want to replace it with a trailer for the semi-bent.

Use yours for shopping, beer (I can get three 24's in the back and a 12 in the front), firewood, etc. They're handy as hell.

...for the double post. The new changes to the comments section made me think the first try had failed.

As soon as I saw the pic I thought Vic was getting ready to become a senior citizen. Playing the part so well, even riding on the sidewalk :)
