Chris Carlsson - NowtopiaChris Carlsson - Nowtopia
Thursday, September 4 8PM (doors 7:30PM)
CineCycle / Behind 129 Spadina Ave, Toronto
Free

What do outlaw bicyclists, free software, and the Burning Man festival have in common? In his new book Nowtopia (AK Press), Chris Carlsson argues that such developments provide a window into an underexposed process of social transformation that challenges traditional models of work and politics. Carlsson will discuss his latest findings with Matthew Blackett of Spacing Magazine and engage in an extended Q&A with the audience.

A This Is Not A Reading Series event presented by Pages Books & Magazines, AK Press, Critical Mass and EYE WEEKLY, in association with Streets are for People and the Toronto Cyclists Union.

A very rare treat. Highly recommended.

LRT Proposals along Jane and Eglinton. Consultations are now.

Tue, 08/26/2008 - 14:56

There are two proposals for new LRT routes. One is on Jane from Bloor to Steeles Ave. The other is on Eglinton from the airport to Kennedy subway station. The community meetings are happening now. I urge everyone to write in and support the LRT, but to also state they support bike lanes being included. The roads are going to be completely reconfigured anyways. Lets get bike lanes. Otherwise this will be a missed opportunity like happened on St. Clair. Write your Councillor, but also cc. it to Councillor Heaps on the Cycling Committee and Councillor Giambrone as the TTC chair. Even though neither route are on the Bike Plan it is an incredible opportunity.

Here are the links.
