Our advice for wannabe cycling-friendly politicians

Politicos have mastered step one, step two is where they incur an ethical deficit. Step three is where we step in: vigilance on our part goes a long way to assuring that credibility gaps are bridged.

I suppose expecting politicians to be forward thinking may be too much to ask, but is expecting them to desist from flagrantly parading their dim-wittedness? When they do, be sure to hold them to account, remember they work for you.

An additional suggestions for provincial politicians:

Limit charges of obstructing traffic in the HTA to (a) obstructing emergency vehicles, or (b) unlawfully preventing all movement of traffic on a public right of way. Clarify that (a) no vehicle lawfully proceeding on the street at a reasonable speed for that vehicle violates the provisions against obstructing traffic, and (b) any articulable safety concern provides an acceptable defence to the charge of obstructing traffic for the operator of any vehicle proceeding at a prudent speed, as long as they do not by doing so obstruct an emergency vehicle.
