Railpath is looking great. it's not quite finished yet, but alot has been done just in the last few weeks: Lots of trees/shrubs/vines/other planted, new signage at the intersections, bridges painted, benches installed, bike racks installed by the GO station, and some paving.
Apparently it will be fully completed a bit later this summer.
In any case, it's looking great, and it will be a great asset to the neighbourhoods along the way.
I'm looking forward to this parade! Should be fun.
The railpath is an awesome idea. It's too bad that the city is having trouble acquiring rights to finish the southern portion. Does anyone know what the hold up is with that?
I'd love to see a path heading East, just North of the rail along Dupont. There will be a short stretch of path along that rail line over by Bayview - imagine if the whole line had a path connecting to the West Railpath. Other paths in the area tend to go from NW to SE. I'm coming from SW and going NE. I take the Christie bike lane which dumps me unceremoniously on St. Clair where I have to share the road to Bathurst, never fun, and then up to Tichester, a bike route where cars are backed up bumper to bumper with little or no room to pass. My son would bike the same route daily but I'll only let him bike on the days where I'm going that way because that stretch is too hairy for me to feel comfortable letting him go alone. A route along the railway with a lane going up Mt. Pleasant would be a dream - though unlikely to happen in time for him, sadly.

I know the City is looking at the potential of linking Redway Drive (off Millwood) to Bayview with a bike path.
Linking the city with a bike path running along this railway does make a lot of sense - maybe one day.
I hope, one day ....
I believe the problem lies with CN who owns the property. They currently lease the land out and don't want to get up this yearly windfall. That's what I've read, so take it with a grain of salt. ****
